The intent is to define a language for controlling legacy code.
In addition to a specification for the Legacy Control Labuage itself, there is a need for a cross-compiler and multiple interpretters. At a minimum there needs to be an interpretter that runs in a standard shell and an interpretter that runs in a standard web browser.
The goal is to allow programming teams to gain control of all of their legacy code and be able to smoothly and reliably mix new software with legacy code and replace older legacy code as needed or time permitting.

Job Control Language (JCL) on alternative platforms
Objectives:
Run mainframe applications on an alternative platform or a backup system.
Benefits:
- When you have thousands of JCL programs to port, the JCL converter can cut costs and minimize project risks through its high degree of automation.
- Easier maintenance of the target code generated (e.g. AIX shell scripts).
- Enable the capabilities available in the new platform that are not available in the mainframe.
Solutions:
- Automated migration of the JCL to the alternative platform.
- Map mainframe-specific functional calls (e.g. SORT), changes in character sets and sorting sequences (ASCCI-EBCDIC).
- Intelligent, application-specific converter settings (e.g. removing/maintaining PROCs).
